Ingredients

    2 Cups Almond or other non-dairy milk
    1 Tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
    3 TBSP Canola Oil
    3 TBSP Barley Malt Syrup (room temp.)
    1 Cup all-purpose flour
    3/4 Cup Whole wheat pastry flour (or just do all flour in all-purpose but that will change the nutritional info)
    1/4 Cup cornmeal
    1/2 Tsp salt
    1 TBSP baking powder
    1 TBSP cornstarch

    Cooking spray if required by your waffle iron (mine does not)

Directions

Makes 4 six-inch round waffles or 8 four-inch square waffles. Serving size is 1 six-inch round and 2 four-inch square waffles.

Pre-heat iron.
Mix vigorously with fork milk, vinegar, oil and barley malt syrup until it is dissolved. Add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth. Cook according to directions from manufacturer on your waffle iron.

    Incredible!
    I love these as a special treat. I have used black treacle instead of barley malt or maple syrup before to get that additional iron. They turn out quite dark but still taste good. - 5/21/11
