I've never made BBQ sauce before but the reviews said this one was good so I tried it tonight. Man, were they right!! It's a little zippy and I love the added texture of the onion. The recipe makes 1.5 cups and a serving is 1 TBSP, if that helps anybody. :o) - 10/11/10

I added more brown sugar and molasses, used onion powder instead of the chopped and added chili powder instead of the pepper flakes. So it came out smoother and a bit sweeter. My husband loved it! - 7/23/12

I found my favorite BBQ sauce! This one is quite good. I didn't have molasses so I used honey. It came out great. - 3/15/11

Yum! I used vegan versions for the butter and Worchestershire Sauce, and used Malt Barley syrup instead of molasses (ran out making candy at Xmas). Thanks for the recipe. I too forgot to grab BBQ sauce at the store and I am happy to have made it homemade.

    A. Maze. Ing. So yummy and so simple, and I pretty much always have these ingredients on hand. I loved the carmelized onion flavor, but wasn't a big fan of the bits of onion in my sauce. Maybe next time I'll strain it when I'm done. The flavor was just perfect, though! - 11/4/10

This sauce was very tasty. I did not have any white vinegar so I used apple cider vinegar. I served it with Easy Bbq Baked Chicken Breast which is a recipe on this site. - 6/15/10

Excellent! It is so delicious. I made 1/4 of the amt the 1st time and 1/2 ingredients the 2nd time and both came out awesome!

I put the ingredients in my vitamix (blender) and it did the work. Then marinated the chicken. Need to make dipping sauce and then warm it.

    THANK YOU!!! - 6/22/09

  • I made a double recipe of this and added to chicken for pulled chicken sandwiches. I have not been a fan of BBQ anything but this was over the moon. Hubby said he enjoyed it so much no more store bought. - 8/22/13

  • i make one almost identical to this recipe and its amazing! for the people who dont like the chunks of oinion, all you have to do is grate the onion with a microplane and then saute it that way. no chunks, all the flavor! - 11/15/11
