Introduction

A fun dish that tastes a lot like a kugel. My kids really liked it. A fun dish that tastes a lot like a kugel. My kids really liked it.
Number of Servings: 9

Ingredients

    3 large eggs
6 whole matzos broken into small pieces
    1c milk
    1t salt
    .24t ground white pepper
8oz cheddar cheese cut into 2-inch pieces
    1 pint sour cream

1. Preheat the oven to 350. In a medium bowl, lightly beat 2 of the eggs and mix in the broken matzo.

2. In another bowl beat the remaining egg with the milk, salt, and pepper.

3. Great or spray a casserole. Place half the matza mixture and half the cheese in the dish. Add half the sour cream, distributing it in dollops evently on the surface, then half of the butter pieces. Make a second layer in the same fashion. Pour the milk mixture on top.

4. Cover the dish and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 to 15 minutes longer to brown the top. Cut into squares and serve.

I used an 8x8 dish and cut it into 9 squares.

    Good
I made this recipe and cut it down. I used egg whites, less Matzo 3, 2tbs butter and .25 cup sour cream and half the cheese. My husband loved it. The children didn't like the texture. I served half a cup. We have a lots left overs. - 4/3/10

Will definitely try this over Passover, which can be a challenging week. Will use 2% cheese, skim milk and decrease the butter. - 4/7/09

I agree with BESEVEN; this sounds delicious, but it is NOT a healtlhy recipe with almost 28 grams of fat per serving and almost 400 calories per serving. How did this recipe get approved? - 4/7/09

How does a recipe with a whole stick of butter and a whole pint of sour cream and 8 ounces of cheddar belong on Spark? This dish, while I'm sure it's delicious, is coronary artery disease on a plate. - 4/7/09
