I've made this every summer since I was a kid...but instead of mayo we used light Miracle Whip...just a bit tangy-er, and also onion...just a bit. It is wonderful. Oh my rating isn't working either...5 stars - 8/9/08

5 stars. This is just like a tzatziki with cucumber, garlic and mint, it is a very refreshing salad.
I always substitute natural Greek yoghurt in place of any mayo, salad cream and goes well with fruit and desserts.
It is so versatile for savoury and sweet things and is good for you too! - 5/12/09

this is an oldy but goody. I use balmic vinegar and olive oil -- no mayo- or light cucumber ranch dressing. Can also some chopped red onion. 4 stars -- wouldn't let me rate. - 5/12/09

Can also add some onion, a bit of Feta cheese and a few Kalamata olives with a splash of oil and vinegar dressing instead of the mayo and have a Greek Village salad - don't forget a small pita! - 4/9/10

I made just as listed and it was great! We loved it. Nice to have a very low calorie alternative to a regular green tossed salad! Will make again and can't wait to use my home grown cucumbers and tomatoes when they're ready this summer! (My rating stars aren't working either, 5 stars!!) - 5/13/09

I enjoyed it but it needed a bit of a kick. I think I will be adding garlic and some red onions. - 6/14/09

Sometimes a lettuce salad is just not appealing. I don't like dill so used fresh basil. - 2/5/09

Thanks RCOHEN823, I'll try it with Olive Oil and maybe zucchini instead of cucumbers. I have no idea why I can never follow a recipe exactly, must be the adventurer in me! - 12/21/08

This is basically an Israeli salad plus mayo. I usually just use the veggies with a little olive oil, salt, pepper and a splash of balsamic vinegar - 4/9/10

I don't like light mayo, so we make this all the time using a bit of extra virgin olive oil and cider vinegar with 5 drops of sweet leaf stevia, and fresh basi -l yummy! - 5/12/09

It is hard to get my hubby to eat veggies and he likes this. I think the Mayo was the trick. I made 2 batches one as you described and the other with a dill vinegarette. - 5/12/09
