Santa Strawberries (Cream Cheese-Stuffed Strawberry Bites)

Introduction

Turn strawberries into Santa-shaped treats with a paring knife and cream cheese frosting! Turn strawberries into Santa-shaped treats with a paring knife and cream cheese frosting!
Number of Servings: 24

Ingredients

    24 large strawberries, fresh
1/2 cup cream cheese frosting (homemade or store-bought)

Directions

Prepare the strawberries:
Use a paring knife to carefully remove the green leaves and white hull (center) of each berry. Slice off the top 1/4 of each berry, reserving the tops.

Place the frosting in a resealable plastic bag with one corner snipped or a pastry bag with a very small tip.

Place the berries bottom side down on a platter. Working one at a time, pipe frosting onto the "top" of the berry. Replace the reserved berry top and pipe three dots onto the front of each berry to look like buttons and one dot on top to resemble the pom-pom on a hat.

Serving Size: 24 berries

A friend of mine sent me a similar recipe only using whip cream instead of frosting, hoping I can find some nice strawberries during this season to give this a try! - 12/5/13

What exactly is 'cream cheese frosting'? Very cute idea, but remember that strawberries are among the dirtiest of produce in terms of pesticides. Buy organic berries. - 12/5/13

These were a hit! Thank you! I made my own frosting with 2 T softened butter, 2 oz softened cream cheese, 1/2 t vanilla and 1 c powdered sugar. The sugar did make the strawberries give up some juice, but overall, what a fun, cute treat! - 12/25/13

If you live in the Northern hemisphere, this is definitely not the season for strawberries.
I would recommend it to replace it with a fruit of the season (less pricy, more tasty than "artificially grown strawberries," less pesticides, and more environmental-friendly.) Happy holidays. - 12/14/13

Awesome for holiday parties - but please make your own cream cheese icing because the canned kind is loaded with trans fats! - 12/10/13

  • These looked and tasted great! My only problem was that the cream cheese frosting (I used Betty Crocker) seemed to melt off the berry when I put the top back on. Any tips for curbing this? I wish to make and take to a family party next week and they'll be out of the fridge for about an hour. - 12/20/13

This is a great idea for a quick party food for a school party. We did something like this last year for the grandkids class party, except we used vanilla frosting. And the kids made their own!!!! There is a canned cream cheese frosting usually used for spice cake, hope that helps - 12/5/13
