I also have made a few substitutes, I dont like onions so I did not use any. I used feta cheese instead of goat cheese and plain walnuts inplace of candied. I also used fresh strawberries. I just used a rasberry vinigrette for dressing. - 5/21/10

I know this is a good salad, my daughter eats spinach salad all the time and she is always adding different fruit. She put fresh blueberries on it sometimes in place of the strawberries. Try it, it is good also. - 6/2/10

A salad of Spinach + fruit+ Nuts and/or cheese with balsamic vinagrette is a staple at my house. Nuts are usually walnuts, almonds or pecans, cheese a low fat white cheese. If I use ruby red grapefruit will skip the cheese and add avocado, maybe a creamy dressing. - 6/1/10

I made a couple of substitutions because I didn't have everthing on hand. I didn't have red onion, but added some chopped sweet red pepper. I didn't have candied walnuts, so just used regular walnuts and added a touch of light dressing for sweetness. - 5/10/08

I am going to skip the goat cheese...sub another cheese or leave out completely. A friend made me a similar salad and I enjoyed very much. I know I will enjoy this as well. - 6/9/10
