Ingredients

    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 cup butter, softened
    1 egg
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 1/4 cups flour
    1/3 cup cocoa
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    3 cups quick cooking oats
    6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine butter and sugar, beat at medium speed until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt--stir into creamed mixture. Add oats and chips. Dough is stiff--add up to 1/4 cup water if needed. Form tablespoon sized balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly. Bake 10-12 minutes. makes about 36 cookies.
