Number of Servings: 50

Ingredients

    - 1 cup margarine
    - 1 cup sugar
    - 1 tbsp corn syrup
    - 1 egg
    - 1 tsp ginger
    - 1 tsp cloves
    - 1 tsp cinnamon
    - 2 tsp baking soda
    - 2 1/2 cups flour
    - pearl sugar, but that's hard to find these days!

Directions

This is an old Scandanavian recipe from a woman who went to my church (which is proud of it's Scandanavian heritage and has a "Scandanavian Fair" every November) for years and years and years before she died. Of course, she was very Swedish too - Olga Johansson!

Cooking instructions: preheat oven to 300-325
- Blend butter, sugar, syrup; add egg and stir well
- Sift dry ingredients and mix
- Roll into small balls, dip in pearl sugar, and flatten slightly. Bake 15 minutes. The result is deliciously spicy cookies that are slightly chewy!
