Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    Burgers
1 pound extra lean (93%) beef
    1 medium white onion, diced
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1 jalapeno, minced (optional)
    2 T cilantro, chopped (optional)
1 t salt-free seasoning blend, such as Mrs. Dash

    6 whole-wheat hamburger buns

    Toppings
1/2 cup guacamole, prepared or homemade
    6 slices onion
    6 leaves Romaine lettuce
    6 thick slices onion
    6 slices reduced-fat Cheddar cheese
6 slices reduced-sodium bacon, cooked and cut in half

Tips

Save sodium by using half the bacon and mixing it into your homemade guacamole. You won't need to add extra salt.

Directions

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
Gently combine the beef with the onions, garlic, jalapeno, cilantro, and seasoning blend.

Form into six patties.

Cook until the juices run clear and the centers are no longer pink. (The burgers should be 160 degrees F in the center when cooked.)

Toast the burger buns, if desired. Layer on lettuce, tomato, onion, a burger, cheese, bacon, and guacamole.

Serve immediately.

Serving Size: 6 burgers; 1 per serving

You can save 20+ carb grams if you leave off the carb heavy bun and eat all the rest of the burger. That's what I'd do. - 1/19/16

I am questioning serving size, 1pound of lean burger does not make 6 servings. But overall taste was good - 1/24/17

Definitely a tomato in this burger not listed. Also I am questioning the 6 servings for a lb of burger. No way the burger would look thick and nice like this. The ingredients definitely make a wonderful burger. I also would cut 1/2 the bun to save some carbs, fat and calories for later. - 12/7/16
