Introduction
A sweet little twist on the classic turkey chili... A sweet little twist on the classic turkey chili...Number of Servings: 5
Ingredients
-
1 Package - 99% Fat Free Ground Turkey (I use Shday Brook Farms, which only comes in 1.23 lb, or about 3 lb pacakges. I use the 1.23 lb package for this recipe)
1 can - Kidney beans (do not drain liquid)
12 oz. - Any tomato sauce (homemade or jar)
1/2 jar - Old El Paso Fresh Mexican Style Smooth Pineapple Chile Salsa
5 oz. - Crushed Pineapple (I use Dole crushed pineapple in juice)
Chili Powder (as much or as little as suits your taste)
Directions
- Brown the turkey over medium heat until no longer pink.
- Drain any excess fat.
- Combine all ingredients in a crock pot.
- Cook on high for 2.5 hours.
- Top with low fat sharp cheddar or fat free sour cream, if it suits you.
Tip: This dish tends to have a little kick to it due to the Pineapple Chile Salsa, so if you prefer something a little less spicy, I recommend skipping the extra chili powder.
Makes approximately 5-6 servings.

I just made this today and wow it was great and I cant believe how simple it is to make. Only thing I did different was that I could not find the salsa that it called for so I use Newman's Own Medium Pineapple salsa. It tasted amazing and I would recommend this to all my family and friends. - 4/19/13

Calories listed aren't correct. Kidney beans aren't added to the nutritional breakdown- I got 250 cal/ serving. Couldn't find the salsa so found grilled pineapple chipotle salsa (Meijer). Added 1 c onion, garlic, fire roasted tomatoes, drained beans and rinsed. Was really thick. Nice combo of flav! - 7/24/12

I used the advice given by KRSOCCER19 and also tweaked this a little on my own by making my own tomato sauce and using a mixture of beans, and I WON 2ND PLACE IN A COOKOFF WITH THIS ONE! Mine was not runny at all and I had so many good reviews from people in the crowd... definitely a hit! Thanks! - 12/3/10

VERY delicious! I'm a huge lover of spice and sweet, and this is a new staple of mine. For the record, I used a different organic pineapple chipotle salsa simply because the Old El Paso version wasn't available. I also omitted about 4 oz of tom. sauce as the above poster said it was a bit saucey. - 1/14/09
