This is my favorite recipe for apple crisp, the Pillsbury cookbook being my first cookbook I ever used. I often add raisins or cranberries in with the apples, and I often add a dash or two of cinnamon in with the topping ingredients. - 2/20/09

mmmm! I couldn't find the cinnamon fast enough so I used a splash of ginger, instead! I had to work hard to resist throwing in some chopped walnuts as I might have to share this batch. I may have to make another batch, with walnuts! :D It's apple harvest season here in S. Ontario (Canada)! :D - 10/21/14

This was fabulous!! Even my husband had to agree. The amount of crust on top is the most impressive, and still only 205 calories per serving. We add fat free frozen yogurt, making the dessert very appealing, flavorful, and very worth making again and again. Thank you! - 6/10/11

I can't wait to make this recipe! the last one I made had about 600 calories per serving so this would be a great alternative! Thanks everyone for the reviews! - 12/3/10

Tripled the recipe for a 10x15 dish.
Also added 3/4 cup almond powder (adds protein) & 1/2 cup ground flaxseed (helped lessen the need for extra butter w/ larger batch). I only used 1/2 cup butter for all.
Tasted great, hot out of the oven w/ a bit of vanilla ice cream on top.

I made it with apple we picked and it game out really good. Next time I would make it in a 13 x 9 pan for better distribution of the topping and easier serving. - 9/27/10

Made recipe twice now, once peeling apples and once not. Delicious both ways, but holds together better peeled. I add fresh ginger, cardamom and nutmeg to the apple mix. I reduce butter in the topping somewhat; more crunchy that way. DELICIOUS! I love it with plain yogurt for breakfast next day. :) - 1/24/10
