Excellent! I make it lots of ways but the favorite is coconut cake mix, 1 can 7-up, poke holes in the cake, then top with sugar free/fat free cheesecake pudding (follow directions on the box), and 1 tub of free cool whip with 1 teaspoon of coconut extract mixed in. BEST Coconut cake I've EVER had! - 8/7/07

The First day I made this, I didn't like it at all. I found it just to leave a weird taste. (I made it with Diet Dr. Pepper) I put it in the Fridge, and my husband tried it the next day, and he said he loved it. (He hates cake.) I tried it, and oddly enough it was great! So stick it in the fridge! - 3/5/09

Used yellow cake with Diet Pepsi Strawberries and Cream. I was surprised at how soft and moist the cake was. It does not rise much but it's tasty. We put strawberries and whipped cream on top. Even hubby liked it and he hates "diet" soda. I will use flavored seltzer next time for a cleaner taste. - 6/13/07

A nice treat! Not the most healthy dessert option, but if you have a bad cake craving, this is a great alternative to the higher calorie cakes. Since you can use any combination of cake mix and diet soda, it leaves you with a lot of options, which is fun. I tried white cake with diet sunkist. - 3/24/07

I have done this for years. THIS IS GREAT FOR PEOPLE WITH EGG ALLERGIES! I make this for a friend so she can have cake! Add 1/2 c unsweetened applesauce and it's even better. I also use splenda coke for chocolate cake. 7-up, unsweetened coconut and raisins in carrot cake. Always RAVE reviews. ENJOY! - 3/19/07

I just popped into the oven a chocolate cake mix with a can of diet cherry coke and one lightly beaten egg white. Pour into the pan and spoon on top a can of light cherry filling.
Place into a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
Top w/ f/f cool whip & maybe a sprinkle of s/f cherry jello - 1/27/10

I don't recommend this - it lacked moisture! I cooked it as instructed on the box and it was way too dry. I used yellow cake mix with diet orange pop. I used cool whip topping with a little bit of sprinkled vanilla instant pudding powder... this was probably the best part. Other than that - too dry! - 1/16/10

If you have a concern over aspartame, pallets of diet soda sweetened with aspartame have sat in the broiling sun of Iraq and Afganistan with NONE of our troops suffering any kind of problem. Check out snopes.com to track this urban legend. It does NOT turn into formaldehyde as some have reported. - 10/5/09
