I use this recirpe with some variation , My breads are slightly grilled with butter or low fat butter prior to serving.
For those who do not know what is pav Bhaji masala, it is a spice consist of cumin powder, cinanmon, cloves and nutmeg. You can make it more spicy using red pepper.

I make this recipe with a touch of I can't believe it;s not butter light. It gives a smooth and creamy texture. I also garnish with very finely diced onions (raw) and tomatoes, with some cilantro/corriander. Yummy!!! - 10/23/08

I have made my own spice mix, thanks for identifying the spices used here. I toast them briefly then grind them.
    I'll try this for sure!

I make something very similar but without mashing the vegetables. Potatoes, cauliflower, carrots & onions are cut into small chunks. It makes a "stew" that doesn't need rice or noodles under it. - 10/19/10

Haven't tried yet but know I will love this. I use the steam bags in microwave to do many veggies. Keeps the heat down in the kitchen and is quick as well. Yum! - 6/27/09

A good friend of mine turned me on to Indian cuisine and it is an acquired taste but this was a good recipe. This is pretty good, didn't take a whole of time & it's good for you too! - 4/17/19

I had printed out the earlier version of this recipe, which was a bit more complicated but used similar ingredients. I used Indian chili powder--& it's quite spicy! US-style chili powder would make it less so. I'm serving it garnished with cilantro & sprinkled with lime juice. Yum! - 3/25/12
