    .5 cup toor dal, cooked
    2 tspns of oil
    2 tspns of tamarind pulp concentrate
    1 tspn of mustard seed
    .5 tspn of fenugreek seeds
    1/8 tspn of asafoetida
    2-3 dried red chillies
    1 cup of diced vegetables
    2 tspns of sambhar powder
    Salt to taste
    6-8 Curry leaves (optional)


Heat oil in a saucepan. Add mustard seeds. When they pop, add fenugreek seeds, red chillies and asafoetida. As they darken, add 2 cups water and vegetables. Add salt. Simmer till vegetables are tender. Add tamarind pulp concentrate and let it dissolve.
Add dal and sambhar powder. Simmer for 5 mins to allow flavors to develop. Garnish with curry leaves.
