Ingredients

1/2 loaf cinnamon raisin bread, cut into 1/2" thick slices
    2 tbsp. butter
1 large Granny Smith apple, sliced thin
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    Pinch of salt
    1/4 c. raisins
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    4 oz. cream cheese
    3 eggs
3/4 c. half and half cream
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. maple syrup

Directions

Layer half of the bread in a greased square baking dish. In a skillet, over medium heat, melt butter. Add apples, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cook until apples are softened and sauce thickens, about 7 minutes. Remove from heat and add raisins, pecans and cream cheese. Stir until cream cheese is melted and well-incorporated. Set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, vanilla and maple syrup. Assemble strata by layering half the apple mixture over the bread, then the rest of the bread and then top with the remainder of apple mixture. Pour egg mixture over entire strata. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake at 325° for 45-50 minutes. Serve with a hefty dose of maple syrup. Serves 4.
