Introduction

If you love cabbage rolls, then here is a fast, easy casserole version! If you love cabbage rolls, then here is a fast, easy casserole version!
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

3/4 lb. Extra Lean Ground Beef
    4 C. finely shredded cabbage
    1/2 uncooked brown rice
    1 1/3 C. boiling salted water
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 TBS. unsalted butter
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1/8 tsp. black pepper
    1/2 tsp. salt
16 oz. Italian cooking sauce or spaghetti sauce

Tips

The sauce was tricky trying to calculate, the choices were extremely limited. Please take this into account. The cooking time does not include the cooking of the rice. You can now buy cabbage pre-shredded in the salad area (YAY!) which will save a lot of trouble!

Directions

Cook rice according to package instructions, about 25 minutes. Drain if necessary.
In a medium skillet, melt butter; add onion and saute until tender. Add beef. Cook until no longer pink, breaking into small pieces as it browns.
Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Add rice and mix well.
In a 2 qt. sprayed casserole dish, layer half the cabbage. Add beef mixture, pressing down. Add remaining cabbage. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper if desired. Press down. Pour sauce over top.
Cover, baking for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
