Ingredients

    1.25 lbs. Lean Turkey Sweet Italian Sausage
    1 egg plus 1 egg white
    1 cup Italian style bread crumbs
    1 tsp. sea salt
    1/2 tsp. fresh ground black pepper (or to taste)
    1 Tbsp. minced garlic
    1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped finely
    1.5 lbs. lean ground turkey
    1 Tbsp. olive oil

Tips

These can also be baked in the oven on a rack over a cookie sheet for about 30 minutes at 400 degrees.

(Serving Suggestion:Add to your favorite sauce and serve with spaghetti squash.)


Directions

Remove Italian sausage from casings and put into a large bowl. Mix together Italian sausage, egg, egg white, bread crumbs, sea salt, black pepper, minced garlic and onion until thoroughly combined. Add ground turkey and gently mix with hands just until combined. Using an ice cream scoop, form into balls and place in a frying pan with olive oil. Brown on all sides, turning frequently until browned well. Add 1 cup water to pan, cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until done all the way through.

Serving Size: Makes 20 medium/large meatballs - 1 meatball=1 serving.
