Ingredients

    3 cups water
    1 cup brown sugar
    2 tb golden syrup
    juice of 2 lemons
    2 cups Self Raising flour
    3 tb butter unsalted
    pinch salt
    20 ml nonfat milk to mix to dough

Directions

In saucepan, mix sugar, juice and syrup in water and stir until dissolved, bring to slow simmer. Rub butter, salt and flour together until mixture resembles breadcrumbs, then mix in milk to form a dough. Roll into walnut size balls and place in syrup mixture. Simmer gently for 20 minutes. Tastes great with cream, ice cream or custard.

    Incredible!
    Great! For any Aussies living overseas with no access to Golden Syrup (like me!), honey works just as well, and is just slightly less rich. Not a real healthy dessert, but at least it's easy to control portion sizes :-) - 12/10/08
