Introduction
Really easy! Really easy!Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
Flour, white, .5 cup (remove)
Milk, nonfat, 2.5 cup
Parmesan Cheese, grated, .75 cup
Colby and Monterey Jack Cheese shredded, 0.5 cup
Barilla Plus Rotini, 1 box
Italian Sausage, pork, 2 link, 5/lb
Onions, raw, .3 cup, chopped
Bread crumbs, dry, grated, plain, .25 cup
Blue Bonnet Light Margarine, 1.5 tbsp
Mozzarella Cheese, part skim milk, 3 oz
Directions
This makes 8 1-cup servings.
Preheat oven to 375.
1. Brown Onions and sliced italian sausage in a skillet for about 5 minutes. Take off burner and set aside.
2. Boil water for pasta. Once boiling add pasta and cook for 10-12 mins, until tender. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large sauce pan, on medium heat, add flour and then gradually add milk, whisking the whole time. Let cook for 6-8 minutes until milk mixture become thick. Add all cheeses and salt and pepper to taste.
4. Combine cheese, pasta, and sausage. Mix throughly until all pasta and sausage is covered in cheese sauce. Place in a casserole dish.
5. In a skillet melt margarine. Once melted add bread crumbs and desired spices/herbs (I like salt, pepper, oregano, basil and thyme). Once combined, sprinkle on top of mac and cheese.
6. Cover with foil and cook for 20 minutes. Remove foil and cook for another 5 minutes to make top crispy.
Enjoy!!
