Introduction
Turning my grandmothers classic into something less fattening. I was worried, but it turned out great. Turning my grandmothers classic into something less fattening. I was worried, but it turned out great.Number of Servings: 6
Ingredients
-
1/2 cup frozen diced onion (ran out of fresh but that would work too)
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
1 large tomato, diced
1 egg
1 slice whole wheat bread diced (the end piece is great for this)
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp parsley
1 tsp crushed red pepper
1 tsp rosemary
1/2 tsp oregano
sea salt (I did about 3 grinds)
dash of peper
sauce:
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tbsp spicy brown mustard
2 tbsp honey
Directions
Preheat to 350.
Mix everything but sauce in a medium bowl and put it in a loaf pan; get your hands right in there and be sure to wash thoroughly after. I didn't have a loaf pan so i used a small casserole dish, either one works fine.
Mix sauce in small bowl, then spread it evenly on top.
Bake uncovered until thoroughly cooked about 45 minutes to an hour. Drain the fat.
Cut into 6 slices.
