Ingredients
-
1.5 cups water (105 to 110 degrees)
1/3 cup blackstrap molasses
2 tsp salt
4 2/3 cup whole wheat flour
3 tsp instant active dry yeast, or bread machine yeast
Directions
1) Measure and add liquid ingredients and salt to the bread pan
2) Measure and add dry ingredients, add yeast last
3) Place pan in machine, select dough cycle, start machine
4) Once machine stops mixing, restart machine. Whole wheat bread does better with a second kneading, since it's lower in gluten.
5) Once machine has completed the dough cycle, remove dough from machine. Turn out onto lightly floured surface, knead out bubbles and divide into two loaves.
6) Place in greased loaf pans and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
7) Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cooking times vary.
