I skipped Splenda. Added 1/2 tsp salt. Very good wholewheat bread! - 6/2/08

No, it isn't multigrain, but with a few small changes it's a very good basic wholemeal roll recipe.

I used 1 TBS olive oil instead of the light butter and I omitted the Splenda altogether. It does need perhpps 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of salt in the recipe and it's good enough I'll use it again.

This is not "grain``bread. I use 7 grain cereal that I buy in bulk and add poppy seeds, flax & sunflower seeeds. You can`t eliminate sugar in breads as it helps the yeast yto work, also the same for salt. I make all my own bread with the 7 grain cereal, very healthy and tastes wondefull. - 6/2/08

I'd skip the splenda and add something like flax seed meal to make it truly whole grain - 6/2/08

I might make this later doing the following: Skip the Splenda and add some rye flour along with the whole wheat to make this really "multi" grain. And knead it by hand (better exercise that way). - 6/2/08

"Multi-grain" means more than one grain. The only grain in this is wheat. I'm looking for something with a little more heft to it than just whole wheat. - 6/2/08

The sugar is needed for rising the yeast but splenda is not. Use olive oil instead of butter and powdered semi skimmed milk. All of which make it healthier. - 6/2/08

to make this multigrain you need to add some poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds, linseeds etc and cut back on the sugar.Otherwise a great idea. - 6/2/08

Too sweet, too much fat, not multi-grain, not skim milk. - 6/2/08

I am sorry but I think this recipe is misnamed. It is not multigrain but it does sound good as "whole wheat bread", however, I am looking for "multi-grain", Thanks anyway. - 11/11/07

When I had my family, I used my bread machine most of the time and rarely bought bread. There are many different recipes for it on the web. Explore. - 6/3/08

With the price of bread, maybe I will consider a bread machine. This sounds good. - 6/2/08

These were very tasty and easy to prepare with the machine doing most of the work. I sprayed the tops with Pam and sprinkled with a little garlic salt to go with Pasta e Fagioli Soup. - 11/11/07
