Introduction
My family loves going to Red Robin for burgers. I love the Bacon Cheeseburger - but I can't imagine what the calories/fat are in it. My husband and I came up with these burgers, and our son's named them the "Ultimate Goodness Burger" I can't figure out why the sodium in so high. I don't think there is that much sodium in this. Ingredients:
1 lb Ground beef, lean (I use 98%)
2 tsp Lea & Perrins, Worcestershire Sauce, 2 tsp
2 dashes Salt
1 tsp Pepper, black,
1 tsp McCormick GrillMates Montreal Steak Seasoning
2 slices Bacon (I like the low sodium), cooked, chopped
1 raw Egg
4 oz Kraft 2% Sharp Cheddar Cheese cut into cubes
6 slices American Cheese
6 iceburg lettuce leaves
6 tomato slices
6 Tbsp Ketchup
6 Hamburger Buns
Directions
In a bowl mix ground beef, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, grill seasoning, bacon and egg in a bowl. Mix with your hands until all ingredients are combined. Make 6 patties out of the meat mixture. With your thumb place a small hole in the middle of the burger. Push chopped chedder cheese inside the middle of the burger - reforming the patty around the cheese.
Grill burger about 6-7 minutes per side (until meat is cooked through). Add a slice of american cheese to top of each burger and allow to melt before removing from grill.
Put burger on bun. Serve with a lettuce leaf, tomato slice, and tbsp of ketchup.
Makes 6 burgers.

These look pretty good. If I had a grill I'd make them for dinner! The folks who posted tagged your sodium issues perfectly. One thing I probable would change is the cheddar - switch it to Swiss to cut back on some of the sodium. A Mrs. Dash product instead of the McCormick's would probably help - 11/11/09
