Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 bag tater tots
    2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 cup sour cream
    1 lb lean ground beef

Directions

Brown beef, drain fat. Once cooled, combine with everything but the tater tots. This will be the meat mixture.
Layer tater tots on bottom of ungreased 8x11" baking dish.
Add meat mixture on top.
Layer remainder of tater tots on top.
Cook on 350 for 30-40 minutes.

    I have made this for years but always put beef mixture on the bottom, 2 can of beans or corn or half and half them the soup mixture and top with tator tots...I have never put cheese in. - 10/16/10

    This wasn't to bad but needs some more spice or something to a zip in it. I think I'll add peppers to it. Will try it again since hubby is a huge fan of tater tots :) - 2/25/08

    Extremely Easy to make (I hate too many ingredients in recipes, so this was perfect) This was actually quite good...seemed a little heavy on the tater tots, but overall was worth it. I have a very picky 11 year old who ate his whole portion. DEFINITELY, will make again. - 6/24/10

    Not what I would consider healthy but it's great comfort food!! Love it and so does the family.
    I sprinkled the top with crushed french fried onions.

    I added some vegeis and used cheese soup. Instead of the tater tots next time I am going to use egg noodles or a whole wheat pasta, as we found the tater tots to heavy. - 3/26/08

    I love tater tot casseroles... Yes, it may not be the healthiest but hey, we all need some comfort food once in a while ;) Stop hating! You can totally skip the sour cream. My recipe doesn't call for it. Just a cream of something soup, ground beef, onion, cheese. You could even add more veggies. - 6/29/15

    If this were on a regular recipe site, this would be a 5. It is easy, delicious and filling. I did add chopped peppers, onions and tomatoes for a little veggie kick. Seriously just add ketchup at the end and Yummy! Again, not very healthy but great for a cheat or if you want to treat your family for - 11/23/14

    SO GOOD I had a hard time keeping to my portion size. I added some red and green peppers to give it a little flavor, and saved some cheese to put on top. A bit of a splurge on calories, but well worth it. - 8/7/07
