Introduction

I can't stand sugar substitutes but needed a friendlier version. I can't stand sugar substitutes but needed a friendlier version.

Ingredients

Black Tea, Green Tea Sugar, Water

Directions

I put 4 Black Tea Bags in a large microwave bowl and microwave for 10 minutes. I let stand for a while, it depends on your taste and how strong you like your tea. I mix the Black Tea batch with 1.5 cups of sugar and enough additional water to fill a gallon size pitcher. (This is our regular sweet tea.) To modify it I make gallon of green tea using the same process, add additional water and mix in a gallon size pitcher with no sugar. When it is time to serve, I poor 8 oz of the regular sweet tea and then add 8 oz of the unsweetened green tea to a glass. It cuts the sugar in half which still tastes better to me than the sugar substitute. Not to mention you get the benefits of both Black & Green tea together which is better than each by themselves. My Hubby now only drinks it this way as well. (and the kids still have normal sweet tea in the fridge.) ~ Makes 16, 16 oz servings.
