    6 Cups of Chicken Broth

3 1/2 Cups of Tomato and Basil Spaghetti Sauce

3 3oz. Chicken Breasts thinly sliced

1 Can Great Northern Beans, rinsed and drained

    1 Bag Fresh Spinach

3/4 Tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Fresh or Dried Basil to taste

**I couldn't find a can of great northern beans in the food finder, so I adjusted the dried beans amount to come close to the calories in a can, it might be off a little**

Place all of the ingredients in a crock pot (except the spinach and basil) Cook on low at t 6-8 hours.

Add Spinach and Basil near the end of cooking and top each bowl with parm. cheese if you want

  • The flavor is very good, and thank goodness I DID NOT put in 3/4 CUP of red pepper flakes in the recipe! Common sense told me that might be a little too much! The flavor was great and the kids loved it! TFS with all of us. - 1/6/09

  • Have you checked out the sodium level? That's 1 to 1-1/2 times the daily amount for most adults. - 12/11/08

No, actually I didn't look at it. I saw the recipe in a magazine, changed it to a crock pot recipe, and put it in here to calcuate my calories for the day. As you know, I am sure you could substitute for lower sodium chicken broth and/or use half water.
