Ingredients

** 1 c. sour milk (see cooking instructions)
1 pkg, (4 oz.) Baker's German Sweet Chocolate
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. Imperial Margarine (soft)
    2 c. sugar
    4 egg yolks
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    2-1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Directions

Before beginning, put 1 T. white vinegar into a 1 cup measuring cup. Fill the remainder of the cup with the milk. As it sits while you do the other steps, it will "sour".

Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add yolks, one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in vanilla and chocolate. Add baking soda and salt. Sift flour and add alternately with sour milk to chocolate mixture, beating after each addition until smooth. Fold in beaten egg whites.

Line the bottoms of 3 - 9" round cake pans with waxed paper (don't grease and flour). Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool. Frost the tops of the cake only with the recipe for Coconut Pecan Frosting.

    Incredible!
Awesome!! Loved every delicious bite! Not only is the cake yummmmy, but I could eat the icing all by itself. If you want to conserve calories...stick to only a sliver...IF YA CAN--I couldn't! - 2/23/11
