Introduction

Yummy turkey chili! I ran out of garlic and peppers so add those if you'd like. It was awesomely good without them. Serve with cornbread or over rice or over a baked potato...or not. still delicious! Ingredients

    1 lb turkey, ground
    0.5 onion, diced
1 14.5oz can of black beans, rinsed
1 14.5oz can of pinto beans
1 28 oz can of diced tomatoes
    1 tbsp olive oil
    3 tsp thyme
    1 tbsp garlic powder
1 package of brown bag blue ribbon chili mix ( a mixture of miscellaneous spices, predominantly chili powder; I used Carrol Shelby's Chili kit as an equivalent)
    16 oz water

Directions

Rinse the black and pinto beans and place in dutch oven. Add tomatoes, and let sit.

Heat the olive oil in a large pan. Add onions to brown and soften. Crumble in turkey. Add thyme and garlic powder. Cook until turkey is just almost done (a teeny bit pink- it will finish cooking in the chili).

Add turkey mixture to dutch oven. Top with package of chili mix. Add 16 oz of water and stir.

Cook on medium to medium low for 45 minutes, stirring periodically. Let sit for 15 minutes to cool and settle.

Serves 6 1-cup servings.
