Ingredients

2 1/4 C. flour
1 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
2 Tbsp hot water
1/2 C. soft shortening or butter
1/2 C. sugar
1/2 C. sorghum
1 egg
1/2 C. seedless raisins
1/2 C. white raisins
1 C. chopped dates
Adding these next ingredients will change nutritional numbers.
1 C. chopped nuts
Frosting: 3 Tbsp. warm milk, 2 Tbsp. butter, 2 C. sifted powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, colored sugar or sprinkles
Directions
Sift together flour, ginger, salt ground cardamom and cinnamon in med. bowl.
In a small bowl dissolve baking soda in hot water.
In large bowl mix well together shortening or butter, sugar sorghum, and egg.
Mix baking soda and water into large bowl and then stir in dry ingredients and mix well.
Add raisins and dates (and nuts if desired).
Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 - 400 degrees (depending on your oven) for approximately 10 minutes.
When cool, if desired, frost and decorate with sugar and sprinkles.
