Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 package of phyllo dough
    1 bag cranberries
    8 cups sliced apples
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/3 cup mable syrup
    1/3 cup ground almonds
    1/3 cup melted butter

Tips

Could make them half size if desired, using just one sheet of dough, and about 1/3 cup filling. This would give you 16. These will freeze well if desired.

Directions

Put cranberries in very large glass bowl, and cook with the maple syrup until softened in the microwave. Add the sliced apples and brown sugar and microwave until apples are tender. (I used 3 different varieties of apples).
Let cool, Drain if needed and save juice to top after baking.

Place 1 phyllo sheet on counter and brush lightly with butter. Sprinkle with some of the ground walnuts. Fold dough in half lengthwise. Bursh with butter. Place 2/3 cup of apple cranberry mix on one end. Fold into triangel shape and over and over. Place open side done on baking sheet, brush top lightly wit butter. Do this for the remaining sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes til golden brown.

Serving Size: Make 8 large size turnovers. The prep time is also to peel apples.
