Introduction

This recipes was one of my mom's favorites and she use to make it around Halloween every year. My youngest son simply loves it ... he says it better than her apple pie (LOL). Ingredients

    Filling:
    6 c. Apples (tart are best but can use any type)
    3/4 c. Sugar
    2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
    1/4- c White All-Purpose Flour
    1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. Ground Nutmeg
    1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
    1/4 c. hot water
    1-1/2 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter
    Topping:
    1 c. White All-purpose Flour
    1/4 c. Sugar
    1/4 c. Brown Sugar, packed
    1 tsp. Baking Powder
    2 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter, softened
    1 large egg
    1/2 c. Water, 1 tablespoon at a time


Tips

NOTE: Depending on oven it may take 40 - 60 minutes


Directions

1. Spray 11x9 inch baking dish or a 2" to 2-1/2" deep pie dish with non-stick spray or lightly butter. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In large bowl combine all filling ingredients gently in a tossing like motion, mix ingredients until well blended, Pour this mixture into prepared baking dish.
3. In a separate medium sized bowl mix topping ingredients with spoon until mixture is a smooth batter.
5. Drop batter on top of the filling with a spoon as evenly as possible, the batter will spread while cooking.
6. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 40 minutes.
