Introduction

This deceptively simple recipe is a really decadent way to end a meal or start a day. It's an old favorite of mine from Doris Janzen Longacre's Classic "More-With-Less Cookbook." If you'd like to eat comfort food that's simple, healthy, and cheap, I'd recommend this book enthusiastically. This deceptively simple recipe is a really decadent way to end a meal or start a day. Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

5 granny smith apples, peeled and chopped fine
    1/2 cup whole wheat flour
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup sucanat or brown sugar
1 1/2 cup granola, any kind
1/3 cup melted butter or margarine

Tips

Because the apples are naturally sweet, I find I can usually get by with less sugar than the recipe calls for.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 and grease/butter/spray baking dish.

Put apples into baking dish. Mix remaining ingredients together and sprinkle over apples. Bake 25-30 minutes. Top with cream or ice cream if you like.
