Nonna's Pesto Sauce
6 oz basil leaves, washed
7 cloves garlic
1 cup pine nuts
1/2 cup grated parmigiano reggiano cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
This is a great no cook sauce. It can be stored in the fridge for about a week or frozen in ice cube trays to add flavor to soups. When I make this for my family I cook about 1 lb of pasta and toss the warm cooked pasta in about 1 cup of the finished sauce.
