Ingredients

    6 cups chicken broth low sodium and fat free
    2 cup dried green split peas, rinsed
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 cup carrots, chopped (around 3 medium)
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    2 clove garlic
    1/2 tsp marjoram, dried
    1/2 tsp basil, dried
    1/4 tsp cumin seed
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper, black

Directions

1. In a large saucepan, combine the first 9 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until peas are tender, about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
2. Add salt and pepper,simmer 10 minutes longer. Remove soup form heat; cool slightly . Process in batches in a blender or food processor until smooth; return to pan and heat through. If desired, garnish with shredded carrots and sliced green onions.
