Introduction

This is the tomato sauce that my mom taught me with a bit of tweaking for the seasonings that I like. You should play around with the seasonings and amounts as well to suit your tastes. And the Splenda is optional. My family likes sweet tomato sauce, but if you like tangy, then leave it out. =)

Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

    1 lb Ground Turkey
    2 tbsp. Oregano
    2 tbsp. Basil
    1 1/2 tbsp. Parsley
    2 tsp. Thyme
    1 tsp Rosemary
    1/3 cup Splenda
    1 tbsp. Balsalmic Vinegar
    1/4 cup Minced Onion (dried)
    Pepper to taste
1 6 oz. Can of Tomato Paste
1 46 fl. oz. Can of Tomato Juice

Directions

This recipe makes a minimum of 8 servings. (More if you don't like a lot of sauce on your pasta)

Begin by browning a pound of ground turkey over medium heat and draining any liquid left over once thoroughly browned.

While the turkey is browning begin putting together ingredients for the sauce in an 8-12 Quart stockpot.

First Add the tomato paste to the pan then each of the dried seasonings minced garlic and minced onion. Mix those together with a wooden spoon or a spatula then add the balsalmic vinegar and stir in. Next comes the Splenda. Again mix that in. Then slowly add the tomato juice about a cup at a time mixing each cup in to the tomato paste seasoning mixture (makes sure the seasoning and texture of the sauce is even). Finally add pepper to taste.

Let the sauce simmer on low heat for an hour. Pour over your favorite pasta or rice and you're good to go!
