Delicious flavour. Only used 1 tbsp basil though. Next time I would soak the pea before making as they were still tough after cooking on low for 8 hours. I had to cook for an additional 2.5 hours on high and then the texture was perfect. Would definitely make again!! - 11/25/08

Great on a cold winter day! We soaked the split peas overnight, at the suggestion of some reviewers. We also sauteed the onion and celery with 2 cloves of minced garlic, before adding to the crock pot. We added black pepper and the ham bone, too. It was a hit! - 1/25/09

My husband went nuts! This was very good and was perfect after easter. I did throw in some small bits of ham at the end and had to add that to my calorie total. Made it with some Kreutz fat free Cornbread and Landolakes lowfat butter and what a meal!! Thanks. - 4/19/09

This was an incredible easy and very tasty soup... I used veggie and chicken broth and both were low sodium so salt content went down even more.. - 4/8/09
