Ingredients

2 tsp vegetable oil
1 large onion (1 cup thin slices)
4 links (12 oz) smoked chicken sausage
2 Granny Smith apples (about 1 1/2 lb, / 2 1/2 cups chopped in bite-sized pieces)
1 1/2 lb green cabbage (8 cups thinly slices, loosely packed)
1 cup water
1 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp honey
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp red-wine vinegar
Directions
Note: Any type of smoked sausage or kielbasa may be substituted
In large deep skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion to skillet; stir, about 5 minutes. Add apples and sausage to skillet. Stir well and cook about 2 minutes. Add cabbage to skillet. Add water, butter and honey, stirring to mix well. Bring liquid to boil, cover and steam for 5-6 minutes. Incover, stir and toss well. Re-cover and steam until the cabbage is crisp tender, about 5 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle pepper and vinegar over the cabbage mixture. Toss to mix. Tast, and add more vinegar if desired.
