Introduction

We used to make this all the time with brats and grill the onions in the drippings of the brats. Granted we would get lower fat brats, but they were still brats. This is very very tasty and filled me up with 4.5 servings of 1 cup each. Guys may want 3 servings of 1 1/2 cup each, but that changes the nutritional values to 328.4 calories, 12.5 fat, 29.8 carbs and 23.8 protein. Ingredients

-1 package 14 oz Oscar Mayer, Louis Rich Turkey Smoked Sausage 2/3 less fat cut into bite sized pieces
    -8 c cabbage, chopped
    -2 c onion, chopped (I use white)
-6 oz, sweet green bell pepper
-1 T low sodium soy sauce (I use Kikkoman)
    -1 t garlic powder
-black pepper to taste, I just dash it around and have never measured it

Directions

Chop your cabbage, onions, peppers and sausage and set aside.

In a large skillet over med/high heat heat up the sausage until it produces some liquid in the skillet, then add the onions and peppers and stir well. Turn the heat down to simmer/low and add the cabbage. Carefully stir and then cover and let simmer for about 10 minutes stirring once. Remove the lid and turn the heat to high Stir and add the soy sauce, garlic powder and pepper. Continue to stir for the next few minutes while the flavors mix and some of the liquid boils away.

Makes 4.5 servings of 1 cup each.

Enjoy!

I used Kale from our garden instead of cabbage. Even the kids ate it! :) Thanks. - 6/13/09

Delicious! My husband and I both enjoyed it. I used cabbage and peppers from my garden, and used a Green onion sausage that my local grocer makes for St Patricks day. Make sure you have a really big pan- Thanks for the recipe. - 1/17/09
