Introduction
Since changing my lifestyle, I've tried to find ways to go out to friends and have healthier foods in addition to the typical foods that got me the way I used to be. What's nice is 3 members of the family we visit are also health conscious - so when I bring something healthy they are among the first to try it assuming it will be healthy. This is much like the vegetable pizza you get at many tupperware or other "home sales parties". My youngest daughter and I made this for Christmas dinner, it was a hit. You can modify the veggies to things you like. Ingredients
-
2 tubes (8 ounces each) Pillsbury Reduced Fat Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls.
1 package (8 ounces) Philadelphia 1/3 less fat cream cheese - softened
4 oz. Fage total 0% Greek yogurt
1 t dill weed
1 t each dried minced onion and minced garlic
1 1/2 cups finely chopped fresh broccoli
1/2 to 3/4 cup each finely chopped sweet red and green bell peppers.
Directions
Remove crescent dough from packaging (don't unroll). Cut each tube into eight slices. Arrange on an ungreased cookie sheet into an 11-in circle touching sides.
Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before carefully removing to a rack. When completely cooled transfer carefully to a serving platter.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl beat the cream cheese, yogurt, dill, garlic, and onion until smooth.
Spread over the wreath ( we made a make shift pastry bag out of a heavy sandwich bag and piped it then spread). Top with veggies and refrigerate until ready to serve.
(Prior to spreading the cream cheese mixture on the wreath we made small slits between each roll to ease the tearing apart when serving the wreath)
