Ingredients
-
1 lb Ground Turkey
3 links Italian sausage, removed from casing
1 tsp garlic powder
1.5 tsp oregano
1.5 tsp basil
1 large onion, chopped
2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 cans diced tomatoes (fire roasted are nice)
2 red bell peppers, roasted and sliced
1 head garlic, roasted and removed from skin
1 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp basil
Directions
Season turkey and sausage with garlic powder, oregano and basil. Brown over low-medium heat in deep frying pan or pot until fully cooked, but not crispy. Remove from pan.
Cook onion and green peppers in the same pan, use the yummy sausage/turkey drippings instead of adding oil. Cook until soft, add canned tomatoes, roasted peppers and garlic, season with oregano and basil. Simmer gently for 15 minutes until the sauce comes together.
This step is optional: for a smoother sauce use an immersion blender in the veggie mixture until it is smooth.
Mix cooked meat and vegetable sauce. Use as desired.
