Introduction

This is a great sauce to add with chicken, polish sausage, meatballs.. Just add veggies and serve over rice. Tastes sinful, but it's not that bad! This is a great sauce to add with chicken, polish sausage, meatballs.. Just add veggies and serve over rice. Tastes sinful, but it's not that bad!

Ingredients

    1 cup brown sugar
    2 Tbsp corn starch
1/2 Tbsp garlic powder (more of less to taste)
    1 tsp ground ginger
    1/2 c. apple cider vinegar
    1/3 c pineapple juice
    1/3 c. water
2 Tbsp Mr. Yoshida sauce (or soy sauce)

Directions

1 serving = 1/4 cup

Mix dry ingredients together. Add wet ingredients. Microwave on high for 6ish minutes (until thickened).

Our favorite way to have this is on Hawaiian Haystacks.
(Rice, crunchy noodles, chopped veggies, pineapple, chicken and cheese topped with sweet and sour sauce).

why do you not use Light Brown Sugar? It would be a healthier, and better choice for the sauce! - 6/9/09

    Bad
Terrible! It is dark brown, not at all like the picture. It tastes like Kickomen fry sauce. Ish! - 7/23/12

    Incredible!
AMAZING. So much better than the jar stuff. I reduced the Brown Sugar to 2/3 cup and added one packet of Truvia. Other than that, I followed recipe and it came out great. - 7/17/11

    Incredible!
This turned out wonderful. I didn't have pineapple juice so I substituted unsweetened orange juice. I also used rice vinegar instead of the cider vinegar. Even with those changes it was super. - 3/2/10
