Introduction
A nice reward at the end of a low-cal day (not a low-cal dessert!) A nice reward at the end of a low-cal day (not a low-cal dessert!)Number of Servings: 1
Ingredients
-
1 apple
1 tbsp butter or margarine or substitute (I used Country Crock)
1/3 c. Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal (or 1/3 c. of other cereal or oats and 1 tsp cinnamon)
5 tsp brown sugar
capful of vanilla extract
Cool Whip for topping (calorie count has 2 tbsp/1 serving)
Directions
Melt butter and combine with vanilla extract, 2.5 tsp brown sugar and cereal or oats and cinnamon. If using cereal, use a spoon to crush and combine the mixture. Slice apple and spread in bottom of oven-safe dish. Distribute mixture over apples and sprinkle remaining 2.5 tsp of brown sugar over topped apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, and then top with Cool Whip as desired.

this is a great recipe I want to keep it for a moment of temptation . nutricious and sweet. Alittle , like 1 tblsp. of brown sugar would be enough - 7/1/09

I agree about less brown sugar. I put in the recipe as I was making it for the first time, and sugar-loving me, I thought it just didn't look like enough. However, after it cooked, quite a bit of the brown sugar didn't caramelize like the rest, so less would probably be fine.

You can count down the calories by using oats, nuts and less brown sugar. - 7/1/09

I agree with your revisions - I was just making what I could with what I had on hand, along with a big craving for something sweet and a ton of apples. I like this general recipe since there's so much room for variation!
