Introduction
This is my version of a family favorite. Instead of making dumplings, I use Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta. Not quite as good as the original, but close! This is my version of a family favorite. Ingredients
-
4 lbs chicken
water
2 small onions, chopped
1 tablespoon butter or oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon paprika + 1 teaspoon, divided
1 cup sour cream
Directions
In a stock pot or Dutch oven sauté onions in olive oil until tender.
Add water until pot is 1/3 full. Add chicken, garlic powder, salt, pepper and paprika. Make sure water is covering the chicken, if not add more until it just covers. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 90 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally.
About 15 minutes before the chicken is done, add pasta and 1 t. paprika to the pan.
After 15 minutes, you should have a delicious dish: the chicken should be tender enough that it is falling off of the bone and the pasta should have made a thicker sauce out of the liquid the chicken was cooking in. Before serving, add 1 cup sour cream.
