Introduction
Nothing is better than crawling out of your nice warm bed and getting a good hot breakfast on a cold day!! Nothing is better than crawling out of your nice warm bed and getting a good hot breakfast on a cold day!!Number of Servings: 6
Ingredients
Milk, canned, evaporated, nonfat, 1 can
Water, tap, 3 cup (8 fl oz))
Steel Cut Oats, dry, 1 cup
Vanilla Extract, 1 tbsp
Salt, .5 tsp
Smart Balance Light Buttery Spread, 1 Tbsp, 2 serving
Spices of your choice ( I like cinnamon and a dash of mace)
Directions
Spray 3 1/2 cup slow cooker with cooking spray
Measure milk into crock pot with enough water to equal 4 1/2 cups total
Add steel cut oats (don't use regular oatmeal it HAS to be steel cut)
Add vanilla and salt.
Cover and cook on low setting for 6 - 8 hours.
I set it last night at 11:30, got up at 7 and left it till 8 then switched it to keep warm setting and it was just fine!!
Serving size 1 cup (I'm eating bigger brekkies)
Makes 6 servings
We eat one that morning and package the others in freezer bags and freeze.
I reheat in the microwave!
This is just for the oats, adding sweetener and/or fruits and nuts will change the nutritional value, don't forget to add it!!!
