Introduction
Grandma's recipe. This is the cranberry sauce that I use in my Cranberry Squares. (see separate recipe) This recipe makes enough for 3 batches of the Cranberry Squares. Leave me a comment if you have any other suggestions to use this sauce for... *NOTE* I always substitute orange juice for the brandy, and that's what the nutritional values for this recipe are based on. I tried to enter brandy as an ingredient, but it wasn't listed. I'll update this when I can find the number of calories in brandy. Grandma's recipe. Ingredients
-
4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup brandy or orange juice
Directions
Place 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries in 9 x 13 inch baking dish or pan. Sprinkle evenly with 2 cups of sugar.
Cover and bake at 300 degrees F for 1 hr. Remove from oven. Stir carefully, then stir in 1/3 cup brandy or orange juice. Pour into jars or serving dishes. Store in refrigerator.
Makes about 3 cups - 60 servings. This makes enough for 3 batches of Cranberry Squares, which yields 20 servings each batch.
*NOTES*
Jar can be refrigerated for a few weeks.
A 12 oz. pkg of cranberries contains only about 3 1/2 cups, so get the larger size.
