Number of Servings: 30

Ingredients

10 slices low-sodium bacon, cooked and cut into thirds

20 ounces 97% lean ground turkey breast

    2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon McCormick 25% less sodium steak seasoning

1 small onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    30 large waffle-cut fries

7 1/2 slices American or Cheddar cheese, cut into quarters

    30 dill pickle slices

15 grape tomatoes, cut in half

Tips

I make the burgers and cook the bacon ahead of time. Then when it's time to serve them I just bake the fries and warm up the burgers and bacon and top with the cheese, pickle and tomato!

Directions

Makes 30 appetizers: Serving size is 1 per person

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

Heat a skillet to medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and saute onion until soft. Stir in the steak seasoning and cook an additional minute.

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, Worcestershire sauce, and onions. Use a cookie scoop (approximately 1 1/2 tablespoons) to divide and roll the meat mixture into 30 meatballs. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and slightly press down, making the tiny burger patties. Bake for 10-12 minutes on one side. Flip the burgers and cook an additional 10-12 minutes, or until burgers are cooked through.
Meanwhile, bake the waffle fries according to package directions.
Remove the cooked burgers from the oven, and top each one with 1/4 slice cheese, and set aside until the fries are done baking.
Remove the fries from the oven and transfer to a serving platter. Top each fry with a burger, 1/3 piece of bacon, one pickle slice and half of a grape tomato, using a toothpick to secure the burger if desired.
Serve with desired condiments.

To produce really crisp bacon and reduce the fat content oven bake the bacon on a wire grill set in a pan to catch the bacon fat. Twenty minutes at 400 degrees will make it crisp and ready to use. - 8/29/13

You can use turkey bacon and set your little burger on the pickle slice instead of a waffle fry, and substitute 2% cheddar squares. Saves on carbs, fat, and calories so you can have more than one bite. That's just a tease! :-) - 11/1/13

Superb! Used ground turkey, turkey bacon, then topped with shredded asiago cheese....pickle slice, tomato slice! Skipped the fries, as I'm low-carb. Absolutely delicious! - 11/1/13

I figured for 70 cal. I would try these. Wow!!
These were so good. Even using low fat cheese
and just a pinch of bacon these things were awesome.

Sounds great for an appetizer, will definitely try. 70 calories is not bad for an appetizer, you are not supposed to make a meal out of them. - 11/1/13

70 calories per bite and someone on this site thinks this is appropriate for the start page ? - 11/1/13

Will definitely make this but will use small, thinly sliced roma tomatos as grape tomatos are too sweet for my taste. - 10/21/13

Too much sodium for such a tiny appetizer. Just about every ingredient already has salt in it, so why add steak seasoning? - 10/11/15

For just one bite, even if it is an appetizer, it's too high in fat and sodium for me. Even though it looks delicious, I guess I'll skip this one! - 10/11/14

This is a terrible recipe and I cannot believe it was emailed out to me. The chemicals and colors in this "food" are out of control. No one can get healthy eating like this and please don't try. There is no nutrition in these little things and they are not worth your time or trouble. - 10/12/15

This still seems like a fatty recipe to me. I think that cooking the bacon on a wire rack in the oven to catch the grease will help cut out a few calories. However, the idea is a good one. - 1/30/17

Thought the comment about 'little slices of death on a stick' was just rude and uncalled for. These are perfect for my life style choice. If I have watched my carbs the rest of the day, I can have two, or even three, of these and stay in bounds. And if I leave off the waffle fries...yeah for me! - 10/11/20
