Ingredients

2 Whole wheat pita breads, split in half
Olive oil or canola oil spray
1/4 cup of pizza sauce, divided
4 oz. of mozzarella cheese, part skim, divided
1/4 cup of pamessan cheese, divided

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400.
2. Using kitchen shears, cut just enough of the outer edge off of each pita to split into 2 pieces, giving you 4 crusts. Lightly spray each pita half with oil, place on a baking sheet and toast slightly in the preheated oven, 2-3 minutes.
3. Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on each pita evenly. Divide cheeses between each pizza, sprinkling evenly over the top. Toppings can be added at this point, but keep in mind that the nutritional information above is for cheese only. Bake in the oven until cheese has melted and begun to brown slightly. Allow to cool before eating.

Tasty. I made some slight modifications based on what I had in the house (because I had less tomato sauce than I thought). I topped mine with salsa, some sauteed peppers and onions, and the mozzarella. Our 6 year old loved these. :) - 5/9/12

I was worried about a Pita crust taste also but it was great. I used Turkey pepperoni. This will probably become a weekly staple. - 7/5/07

Super easy and so tasty! Made these for my whole family with lots of toppings for them to choose from and everyone loved them. I skipped the first toasting step and just topped the pita and stuck it in the oven. Great for a healthy pizza party! - 6/23/07

I just put a recipe for pita pizzas with sausage. I just made them tonight for the first time & was worried the pitas would make it bland but I was wrong, I'm sure they'd be great without the sausage too! - 3/29/07
