I made this recipe "Lebanese" by adding spices that my Mother-in-law puts in her Cabbage Rolls... Allspice, Cinnamon, Paprika, Cumin and Pine Nuts. Served over rice. Oh, add more chopped tomatoes and tomato paste so there is more sauce. My Lebanese husband LOVED it. - 8/5/08

I added 1/2 can tomato paste, 1 tsp ground fennel and few dashes of red cayenne pepper. It was cooked thirty minutes longer(simmered) . Also a splash of fresh lemon juice kicked up the flavor. I served it on basmati rice. This is a keeper. - 7/8/08

Thought original recipe was a little bland. So I added cinnamon, cumin, thyme, seasoning salt, and paprika. I also added a can of tomato paste and , butter beans,(rinsed) and veggie broth. It was very flavorful. I offered it with rice. But with the beans did not really need anything else.:)YUM! - 1/11/11

I have long made a variation of this using bacon instead of turkey and I gotta say this way is so tasty! Made it as is, adding a little cumin and celery salt. Highly recommend this, its pretty easy too. - 11/1/10

I added a can of white beans and some lentils to this, as well as a small amount of wine and it was absolutely delicious!!! And the beans and lentils made it so filling that we didn't need to serve it with bread or rice to make it a meal. Very, very good and I will definitely be making it again! - 1/16/10

I used a pkg of the cole slaw mix (cabbage & carrots), and 2 cans of diced tomatoes with chiles. As the water cooked out of the cabbage, I added some oregano, chicken bullion granules and chili lime seasoning. This was great, did not serve over anything and it was still very filling! Loved it, thx! - 1/25/11

My DH and I both loved it this! It tastes very similar to stuffed cabbage but less tomatoey. I did add a tbsp of tomato paste and will probably add an additional tbsp when I make it today. I think I'll add oregano, too. Ate it over a little brown rice. It's delicious, filling and low cal - great! - 10/25/10

I really enjoyed this, but I thought it was a bit bland. However, it is a great base for adding other things in to perk it up a bit. I liked it with extra onion & garlic powder, paprika & cumin, topped with a fried egg. Will add mushrooms & noodles at some point, too. Very good, a definite keeper! - 3/31/14

I've made this recipe three times now! I added the spices Weezyweezy suggested (omitted the pine nuts as I didn't have any on hand) and then I just mixed in some low-fat cottage cheese and warmed it. My family likes it with noodles too. I love how low cal, filling and healthy this is! - 5/1/12

Def a good base recipe and made 6 heaping servings. Maybe my cabbage was too big b/c it seemed to be way too much cabbage. May increase the turkey next time might add in some turkey sausage for flavor and will add in many more spices. - 3/1/11

We make something similar, but use a diced red bell pepper with the cabbage, onion, and garlic, no tomatoes though. We season it with soy sauce, tabasco, and vinegar. It sounds weird, but the whole family always loved it with rice. Will try this version! - 3/30/10
