This is an excellent base that you can kick up a notch! I added peppers, carrots, a can of tomato paste, extra garlic, cayenne and 1/2 a pkg of low sodium taco seasoning.....It was awesome! Thank-you so much for sharing.
I've made this recipe three times now! I added the spices Weezyweezy suggested (omitted the pine nuts as I didn't have any on hand) and then I just mixed in some low-fat cottage cheese and warmed it. My family likes it with noodles too. I love how low cal, filling and healthy this is!
Very Tasty. Ionly had 1/2 head of cabbage, I used 2 cans Italian diced tomato's, and I added about 1/2 cup of Spicy Hot V8 Juice. Low on calories and I can eat LOTS! Yummy!!!
Thought original recipe was a little bland. So I added cinnamon, cumin, thyme, seasoning salt, and paprika. I also added a can of tomato paste and , butter beans,(rinsed) and veggie broth. It was very flavorful. I offered it with rice. But with the beans did not really need anything else.:)YUM!
I have long made a variation of this using bacon instead of turkey and I gotta say this way is so tasty! Made it as is, adding a little cumin and celery salt. Highly recommend this, its pretty easy too.
I made this for dinner last night and we loved it! I used No Salt Added Diced Tomatoes to keep the sodium lower and added a can of tomato paste and lots of pepper. Tasted so much like my Mom's "Lazy Cabbage". Will definitely make it again.
My husband loved it. I like that it was low calorie and included everything I had in the kitchen.
Sounds great and low in calories - I am going to try it.
I made this a couple of days ago exactly as listed and I loved it! I did add flavoring - 2 low sodium chicken broth cubes, cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes. A Keeper!
Great base recipe. Add various veggies & seasonings to taste. added chopped gr pepper and zucchini, 1/2 c. corn, can Great Northern Beans, drained &rinsed,~ 1T fennel, 1/2 t. ground thyme, a few shakes of cinnamon & allspice, 3T brn sugar. Cook tot 45 min. Add veg broth as needed. 8 servings.
This was very easy to prepare and the taste is awesome. We used the no sodium added tomatoes to cut down on the sodium. It was great. Did not require additional seasoning.
Made this tonight with 93% ground turkey and diced tomatoes w/ roasted garlic & onions. I've only tasted it for seasoning so far, & it's delicious! I haven't even added extra salt, just some pepper. I'm going to serve it with some leftover filone rolls and a nice cold glass of milk-so yummy! Thanks!
Very good recipe - I used l can of broth for the diced tomatoes and packaged coleslaw mix. Since there are just 2 of us I had leftovers, so I mixed the remainder with cooked macaroni twists and sprinkled on some no-fat mozerella cheese and baked until the cheese melted.
I made this tonight and it was fabulous. Even my 6 year old daughter asked for seconds. Thanks a bunch for such a great recipe. Very low fat!!!!1
