Awesome recipe, thank you...so moist and fluffy!! I used Pillsbury white cake mix and Cherry Coke Zero. Also, for those of those that don't regularly measure in ounces, 10 oz. = 1.25 cups. Hope this helps!! :) - 11/6/09

I did not make it, but how can there be zero sugar? Isn't there sugar already added to cake mix? I am diabetic so sugar content is vital - (and I don't have a cake mix in the house to compare with the posted nutritional breakdown) - 4/17/10

recipe being made now but it needs to be clear that listed carbs are wrong. The carbs are going to depend on the cake mixed used, NOT 1g. Using sugar free mix carbs are 32g per serving. - 1/30/12

I opted to now use "diet" pop, as aspertame isn't good and using regular pop only added 5 calories to each cupcake. I used white cake, and Dr.Pepper. It was to die for. I also tried one with cherry chips cake mix and cream soda. It was really good, but the one with Dr.Pepper was better. - 3/25/10

These were light, airy, delicate, and delicious. They don't taste diet. I made the Cherry Coke Zero and White Cake version. I made 24. By my calculations they have 89 calories each, and less than one gram of fat, without frosting. And they don't need frosting. They ARE addictive. - 1/10/09

Would have given 5 but carbs are listed wrong - it is actually about 16-20 per cupcake - there are 18 grams of sugar in white cake mix. - 5/15/11

I made mine with Diet Dr Pepper and Red Velvet cake mix - by my math, they are 91 calories each - split in half with a touch of fat free cool whip and they tasted decadent. Just out of the oven, I noticed a slight aftertaste that disappeared after they cooled off. Fantastic!! - 4/4/11

Doesn't Coke Zero container Aspartame? I thought you weren't supposed to cook with Aspartame because of the heat. I know that convenience stores don't stock diet soda outside because of heat. - 8/18/09

Nutrition data is way off. No way this can have 9 gms of protein per cupcake or only 100 calories for 24 cupcakes as indicated (i.e. 1 serving. - 4/22/07

Nutritional info is wrong! Basic white cake mix serves 10 has 37g of carbs/serving with 19g of sugar/serving. 37 x 10 = 370 carbs for entire cake mix. Divide by 24 cupcakes is 15.4 grams of carbs per cupcake with 7.9 grams of sugar/cupcake. BAD for diabetics & low carbers. Please correct info. - 8/21/13

I love this recipe! It's a great cupcake for the calories. And it's so versatile which is fantastic. I made a white cake mix + diet creme soda alternative too for those who don't enjoy chocolate. I paired it with a peanut butter frosting I found on spark recipes as well! Thanks! - 4/1/13

Awesome! Very light. I used coke zero with yellow cake mix. What I do for a yummy dessert is break one up in a bowl, put some berries or fruit on top, and then put some sugar free cool whip on the top! MmMmM delicious! Almost like a strawberry shortcake! - 1/23/11

The cake was so moist. I asked my daughter to make a two layer cake for my birthday last Sunday. One was with coke zero and the other with sprite zero. I still have some in the fridge. I liked it so much that I shared the recipe to my foodie friend. She made it today and her parents loved it. - 9/5/10

i never have used the egg whites. what do they do? i add whatever soda i have and a cake mix and just mix together and it is better than when i used to add all the oil, etc to the mix. much moister. doesn't come out of a pan or muffin cups easily (sticks) but otherwise aweseme - 6/27/10

I have made cakes and cupcakes like this lots of times but without the egg whites. Just the drink and cakemix. Great for people who are allergic to eggs. One of my favorites is root beer with chocolate cake. - 6/18/10

Tastes great! Used Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper and white cake mix. Followed the cooking times and directions on the box, but used the soda and egg whites instead. Turned out great! Doesn't rise as much as regular cupcakes, but turns out very tasty! - 3/23/10

I made this with white cake mix and A&W Diet cream soda. I didn't pay attention and used the whole can(12 oz instead of 10 oz) and they turned out good! I can't wait to try a different cake mix/soda combo. I put in the nutritional info and got 86 cal,1.5g fat,17g carb,1.4g protein if you make 24. - 3/2/10

I made these this morning exactly according to the recipe and loved them! I did Strawberry cake mix, Coke Zero, and the egg whites. They didn't rise like a "normal" cupcake, but they are really yummy! I put some Cool Whip on the top and it was delicious! I will definitely make them again!! - 12/6/09

Help! I bought the new Pillsbury Reduced Sugar Devils food cake mix, only mixed it with 12 oz. of coke zero, poured them into cupcake liners, baked for 17 minutes at 350 degrees (as directed on the box). They turned out awful! The wouldn't even come out of the liners. What did I do wrong? - 11/19/08
